The 32nd International Sacred Choral Music Festival “Cantate Domino” invites audiences to Kaunas
From October 24 to 26, Kaunas will host the 32nd International Sacred Choral Music Festival “Cantate Domino”, bringing together choirs from Lithuania and abroad for a shared musical dialogue. This year’s festival welcomes ensembles from Germany, Latvia, and Estonia, presenting both sacred music traditions and contemporary works.
The festival will open on Friday, October 24 at 6:30 PM at Kaunas Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, featuring performances by the Lübecker Knabenkantorei an St. Marien (Germany), Female Choir “Medicus” (Latvia), Mixed Choir “Sonore” (Latvia), Chamber Choir “Eysysla” (Estonia), and Chorus Menticum (Estonia).
On Saturday, October 25, the Kaunas Officers’ Club will host the choir competition at 12:30 PM, followed by the awarding ceremony and concert at 5:00 PM. Listeners will have the opportunity to enjoy diverse interpretations of choral music and discover new talents from different countries.
The festival will conclude on Sunday, October 26 with the Gala Concert “Cantate Patriae” – a united performance of Kaunas school choirs celebrating the city’s choral traditions. The concert will feature the Mixed Youth Choir “Vyturys” (Kaunas Vyturys Gymnasium), Mixed Youth Choir “Gaja” (VDU Rasa Gymnasium), Mixed Youth Choir “Cantica” (J. Naujalis Music Gymnasium), Mixed Choir of Kaunas J. Gruodis Conservatoire, and the Mixed Choir “Akordas” (Kaunas Saulė Gymnasium).
