In June, the city of Kaunas will drown in culture, and at the same time in the vortex of choral music. The tenth Kaunas Cantat Festival will fill the European Capital of Culture with choral music on June 9-12. We invite you to the opening concert, which will take place on June 9 in the Great Hall of Vytautas Magnus University, and the opening ceremony of the festival will be the vocal ensemble from Germany “Singer Pur”.
The ensemble was founded in 1991 and continues its musical activities to this day. The composition of the ensemble, as its members emphasize, is somewhat unusual: a soprano, three tenors, a baritone and a bass sing in the ensemble. The repertoire of the ensemble is characterized by a wide range of styles. In the programs performed by the ensemble, one can hear everything that can be done in a voice from medieval times to the avant-garde.
Singer Pur’s career is truly impressive: appearances on television and radio, record publishing, participation in festivals and concerts in nearly 60 countries. At the Kaunas Cantat festival, the sextet will present not only its program, but will also surprise the audience with Lithuanian works well known to every Lithuanian.
