Lituania Cantat is a non-profit institution dedicated to the organisation of festivals and concerts for choirs and orchestras. The first choral festival, now an annual event, took place in Kaunas in 1992. Its success led to broader cooperation with various organisations and more initiatives aimed at the propagation of choral music.
Since 2017, Lituania Cantat has been in charge of five international festivals and competitions held in Kaunas, Šiauliai and Birštonas. It also takes part in arranging other events involving choral music. As an organisation focused at cross-border cooperation, it maintains close ties with renowned international experts by inviting them as members of jury or speakers at vocal seminars.
Over the years, Lituania Cantat has welcomed performers and experts from far and wide, including Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas. Choirs, vocal ensembles and orchestras representing dozens of nations have performed in concert halls and churches in towns and cities across Lithuania.
Our festivals and competitions are open to choirs and vocal ensembles of different types, and there are no limits regarding the singers’ age. International juries, consisting of experts from Lithuania and beyond, evaluate and rank the participating groups that, alongside their musical agendas, may choose touristic and cultural programmes during the events.
