Birštonas, a resort town in southern Lithuania, has since 2018 been hosting an international festival and competition that brings together classical and new music performed by choirs and orchestras.
Situated on the banks of River Nemunas and surrounded by beautiful nature, Birštonas has for more than a century been famous as a health resort and, more recently, as a vibrant cultural hotspot. Among other things, the town boasts the nation’s oldest jazz festival.
Birštonas Cantat aims at high-standard choirs and orchestras from Lithuania and beyond. Its international jury, apart from evaluating the participants, also acts as a source of expert advice for the conductors of the participating choirs and orchestras.
The festival is held in close cooperation with the city’s municipality and the local Centre of Culture.
