Cantate Domino

RULES OF THE COMPETITION

 

Competition rules:
Cantate Domino is open to amateur choirs and ensembles only.

COMPETITION WITHOUT COMPULSORY PROGRAM

In the competition without compulsory programme, the ensembles perform a freely chosen programme of sacred or secular music, of which 2 works are performed a cappella.
The duration of the competition with compulsory programme is 12 – 15 minutes, including entrance/exit, applause, pauses between pieces.
In the competition without compulsory programme, the following categories are included:

 

„Cantate Domino“ competition without compulsory program categories

A

Children’s Choirs (maximum age 16-year-old).

B

Youth Choirs (maximum age 25-year-old). (SATB/ SA/ TB)

C

Adult Choirs. (SATB/ SA/ TB)

D

Ensembles (up to 16 singers)

 

A COMPETITION WITH A COMPULSORY PROGRAMME:
In the compulsory programme competition, the ensembles perform a programme of sacred music, of which 1 piece may be secular. The works are performed a cappella, 1 work may be performed with instrumental accompaniment.
In the competition with a compulsory programme, ensembles participate in the following categories:

 

Competition with compulsory program categories  

A

Children and youth choirs and ensembles up to 19 years old

B Adult choir and ensembles (SATB, SA, TB)

 

The duration of the competition with the compulsory programme is 15 minutes, including entrance/exit, applause, pauses between the pieces.
Compulsory competition programme:

 

1)

Piece from Renaissance/Baroque/Classical/Romantic period.

2)

Piece written after 1950 year

3)

Piece of the composer from your country (the piece could be secular)

4)

Compulsory piece (Kęstutis Daugirdas – „Cantate Domino“ / Vytautas Miškinis – „Cantate Domino“/ Raimundas Martinkėnas – “Cantate Domino”)
